Waxy Saturday

I have a day off!  I have a day off!  (I better be quiet or they'll find me and I'll have to work).

Today is cold and rainy but at least it is a free weekend - I will never complain about that!

I changed out all the wax in my house (along with doing some chores and getting measured for my sister's wedding...)

I decided I would start with Tiffany's in the downstairs.

I melted my favorite scent from her - Birthday Bash - in the living room.  This tart is so, so strong!  It filled my whole house with yummy, creamy fruit loopy-marshmallow-cake goodness.  It is so good I wanted to eat it, lol!  I love this scent all the time.

I am melting Lemonade in the spare room and hoping that it doesn't conflict with the Birthday Bash or I'll have to shut one of them off.  This is a lemon scent but I wouldn't say it smells like drinking lemonade.  It smells more strongly of hard lemon candy.  I like it anyway.  It reminds me of summer and it needs to be summer now!!

I haven't got anything going in my mini-warmers for the bathroom and kitchen. That's probably a good thing because I don't want scent overload!!!

This is the much raved about Strawberry Marshmallow Bread from Front Porch. I have this going in the upstairs today and it is yummo.  I mean - not my favorite scent in the world overall but the strawberry is really, really delicious in this.  I think the bread note is what turns me off slightly but it is nothing compared to how good the strawberry is.  I love this.

Oh, and one more thing!  I got my Shayz Haul the other day.  Yay for new wax. :)  Will do a video soon so come check out my youtube.

I need a nap and some retail therapy.  Until later, Ciao!  :)

Happy Hump Day!

I hope that everyone is getting through this rather difficult week as best as they can.  My heart is always heavy when I think of the tragedy that surrounds us sometimes.  I am thinking and praying for all those affected by the events at the Boston Marathon.  Boston has always been a favorite place to visit and I love the city and its people more each time I go.  I have been reading and following much of what's going on but my favorite things to read are those little glimmers of hope that still live in all of us.  The hope that Boston will be stronger for having gone through this and we will move forward again.

I pray also for those souls lost and those so terribly injured - I certainly cannot say anything to take away the pain of loss and the physical pain.  But I always pray that God is with those people to help them get through this.  I am also in touch with the Red Cross and as soon as their stores need replenished, I am there.  :)

The last few days are rare oddities in my normally insane schedule; I did not have any plans and so I lounged around each day for a few hours enjoying my free time and my melts.  :)

I had Tiffany's Creamy Vanilla melting in the spare room.  I love this scent because it is so smooth and lends itself to blending with other scents that I have going at the same time.  :)  Alone this is rich and dessert-like.

Yesterday morning I popped in a Pink Coconut Cream from Front Porch.  It's still going strong so I will leave it until tomorrow morning.  :)  This was my favorite in my first order - it is delicious!  Admittedly I do love this but it isn't as strong as the other coconut scents I've tried (this is the last one I have in the order).  It is so yummy!  The coconut blends very well with the pink sugar.  I think I like the regular coconut cream pie better since the pink gives it a rather perfumey touch.  All in all, it is great!

I popped in Blackberry Butter Jam Cookie from Front Porch Monday morning.  I just changed it out this morning so it lasted three days at several hours a melt.  This wasn't as strong as some of the other melts from Front Porch.  I do not think I am going to repurchase - I'm not a fan.  It is to sweet and it smells artificial to me.  Maybe I just don't like Front Porch's berry scent, I don't know.  I do not get a cookie note at all and the berries are cloying.  I know this is a favorite of many so I guess it just isn't for me.  :)

Today I popped in Berry Berry Good Buttercream from Front Porch.  This is one I liked the least on cold sniff.  Warmed up it is super strong!  I really like the buttercream that Front Porch has but unfortunately you don't get much of that in this scent - it is mostly berry.  It is a good, strong fruit scent but I wish I had something to make it more creamy.  To me this smells like fruit compote or fruit pie or something like that.  But it is still yummy just not what I thought it would be.

Have a good day everyone!  I am going to sneak in a nap before my insanely long work day begins.  Until later, Ciao!

Weekend Wax!

Hope everyone had a good couple of days - and didn't have to work, ha.

I did go out Saturday night to see The Evil Dead.  It's...gory.  So go see it if you like that sort of thing or don't if you're like me and get squeamish.  I wasn't sure why I wanted to see it in the first place, lol!  But I did and that's that.  I was scared for hours after.  My date loved it; I'm a bit frightened about that too.  ;)  When I got home I popped Some Kissing Booth in the upstairs warmer.

Love this wax.  I go gaga over gold glitter.  LOL.  And I loved this on cold sniff!  It is the only cookie scent with a hint of lemon.  And it isn't like, cleaner lemon.  It's delicious bakery lemon like in cake.  Yum!  Was so excited to melt this.  Unfortunately, I did not have luck with this one in the bulb warmer.  No throw at all.  I am going to try this in my 24 watt soon and report back.  What a bummer but it might just be my warmer!  I haven't given up yet.  :)

This morning (Sunday) morning my Vanilla Confusion was done so I popped in another winner - Coconut Cream Pie.  This was a winner just because it was coconut cream pie.  I love it.  I love to eat it.  I love to smell it.  I love to look at it.  I love to make it.  Whatever- love it.

On cold sniff, Front Porch's was really strong on the sweet and light on the coconut so I wasn't sure.  But now I am a believer - for real.  This is the most decadent, rich and delicious smelling coconut ever.  If you like pie the way I do go order this now.  Go.  It is dead on.  You get the coconut and the cream.  You even get the crust part (though you don't get any of that when you sniff it cold).

Go.  Get it now.  It's probably not in stock but go stalk the website.  ;)

I shopped all day.  I got a new Yankee warmer so am going to use that one in place of my cheap, bulb one.  I give the bulb one the side eye; it's given me too many issues.  :)  I decided I was going to try it out and I used another winner from Front Porch - Coconut Cream Cupcakes.

This one is delicious too!  It gives of a decent, yummy throw.  I won't lie though - I love the coconut cream pie better.  :)  I don't know why; this one has this odd buttercream scent to it.  Hey, it might be the cupcake part, I don't know.  I do know that I love Front Porch's coconut scent!  Can't wait to try the next one!

Anyway, I'm off to relax (finally).  Too bad it's the end of the weekend and I get to do the work thing again tomorrow!  Till later, Ciao!

PS - new video up.  It's a haul from Bath and Body Works.  Check it out.  :)

Candy Floss and my first Front Porch Grubby Tart :)

Hope everyone is doing well!

This morning I am busy with housework before I have to go to work (ugh, who works on Saturday?)

I have two melts going this morning.  I am melting Candy Floss in the upstairs and Vanilla Confusion from Front Porch in my downstairs warmer.  Yes- I did get my Front Porch order!  Yay for that, right?

But more on that later.

First, let's talk about Candy Floss.  :)

This is such a pretty wax!  I love it on cold sniff.  There is a sort of fruity scent layered with the candy sweetness and it is lovely.  I put this in my spare room and to be honest, even though it is nice, this isn't a strong thrower.  It is nice in one room of the house because I blog from my bedroom and I do not smell this at all.  It is very, very light.  I love the scent; when warmed this smells like a sweet, cotton candy with hints of light fruit sort of dancing with it (very descriptive, yes? ;) ).  It is definitely for the candy lover because it is super sweet.  I wish it was stronger but I definitely do like it.  I haven't decided if it will be a repurchase or not.

The tarts from Front Porch do not need to cure so I popped in a Vanilla Confusion grubby tart just a bit ago to see how I would like it.  This one is insanely strong.  On cold sniff it smells like a boxed powder sugar donut (you know those ones you get from the grocery store?)  I never liked those donuts as a kid but I digress.

Warmed it has hints of sugar and vanilla, some musky notes and even more vanilla.  Warning: it is SUPER sweet.  This is an in your face sweet scent so you have to like that.  I think this one is delicious.  It is unique; I haven't smelled a vanilla like this one before.

Two hour and back to work.  Ugh.  Till later, ciao!

Happy Friday!

Gloomy morning in on the east coast.  :)

Today I am in an out before work but I got a chance to finally try Tiffany Candles Pink Loops in my electric warmer.

I hadn't gotten much throw from this tart before (as I've said several times) but this time was a charm!  I love it in my electric warmer.  It is good and strong.  :)  I can smell it upstairs even though I have it melting on the lower level.  A keeper for sure.

It smells like a sweeter version of Fruit Loops (duh, lol).  Definitely in the running for one of my top favorites from this order.

Gotta go get my feet summer ready!  :D   Till later, Ciao.

PS.  Look for my first 'what's in my melting pot' video on you tube.  And my orders are coming in within the next few weeks so look for those too!  My channel is as follows so like and subscribe.

Set Sail with Jolly Pirates!

This morning is a warm one for April.  (I know, I was complaining just two weeks ago but I have a good reason - I like warm just not humid and it is always humid here.)

But anyway, I thought I'd melt something tropical today and I picked Kissing Booth's Jolly Pirates!

This is a white and red-topped wax with glitter- very pretty.  I had purchased it originally because it is supposed to have coconut in it.  I guess you could say this would be Kissing Booth's version of a Pina Colada or at least some sort of coconut drink.  The top smells like grenadine and the bottom has that colada fragrance.  As I have said before I was not a fan of this scent on cold sniff.  People convinced me that it would work though (and of course I wasn't NOT going to melt it.  :D )

There's something about the scent on cold throw that is not appealing to me but that all changed once I warmed it up.

This is AMAZING.  Best colada scent I have smelled in a long time.  It is creamy from the coconut and has a mild fruit scent (I assume from the grenadine).  This isn't a super sweet scent and it doesn't have any tartness either.  It is just a good, strong scent heavy on the coconut in my opinion which is what I LOVE.  And it is the strongest thrower I have tried from Kissing Booth to date.  My whole house is scented like it now and I had to turn off my other warmers because I didn't have any choice.

Give it a shot even if you're thrown off by the cold scent.  If you like anything with coconut I think you'll love it.

I'm off now; there's a new vegetarian place that opened one town over and I am going to give it a shot.  Until later, ciao! :)

Stefon Reminds me of Summertime!

I got my new warmer last night in the mail!

I was so excited; it works like a charm!

The first wax I used was from the Kissing Booth - I melted Stefon.

This isn't only just a pretty looking clam shell (although it really is) but it smells divine!  I had this going for an hour this morning and turned it off when I went to the gym.  It was still lingering when I got back and hour later and turned it back on.  The whole house smells delicious!  It is SUPER STRONG.

The scent is a mixture of everything - but warm I smell mostly fruit - citrus and berries.  Sometimes you get a whiff of musk.  Sometimes there's a touch of sweet (vanilla or sugar of some sort?)  Sometimes you get even notes of something alcoholic.  I don't know but it is a huge melding of a lot of different things.  It isn't a fruity scent or a bakery scent.  It isn't really perfumey.  I think this is the sort of scent that might capture anyone really.  I love it.  It reminds me of warm days and summertime.  And my sister says our house has never smelled so beautiful, lol.

Now I'm off to lunch with some boys from work.  Until next time, Ciao!  :)

Sweet Dreams for Monday

What a gorgeous day!  I should probably be melting this in the evening but I couldn't wait!  This is the first one I am melting after curing from the Kissing Booth.  As you can see it's a very pretty hot pink wax with glitter.  I love the way it looks and on cold sniff you get both the peppermint and the pink sugar.  I also noticed overall the wax from Kissing Booth is much softer than the other vendors I've tried so far.

Anyway, I've had this one going for about five to six hours.

It melts very quickly in a full-size bulb warmer and it scented my whole upstairs (I had it going in the bathroom).  Melted, I do admit I get more peppermint than pink sugar.  But it isn't a super strong peppermint scent because I think the sweetness from the pink tones it down.  I don't really know if I could call this a calming scent; I think it is unique (and I haven't actually melted anything like this from any other vendor yet).

I used one cube and it is still going strong.  And another little thing is that if you like this you're in luck because even if you're not melting it you will smell it.  I put it in my warmer this morning before switching it on and when I came upstairs after doing my morning thing I could already smell it on the landing even cold!  I like that; it hasn't happened with any other wax.

Overall if you like mint scents, give this a try.  I do think it is stronger on the mint than the pink sugar so I don't think it is super minty or super sweet.  It is a lovely scent though.

Now I'm off to help my dad fix my roof, go to the gym and head off to work.  Hope everyone has a great day.  Until next time, Ciao!  :)

Creamy Fruit Slices!

Happy Sunday night, everyone!

It's been a busy one for me.  A good friend of mine put on a vocal recital and I've been traipsing around the city for most of the day.  Only got home a bit ago - what a long day!

I had put tarts into my mini bulb warmers on my way out and I returned to a house that smelled so yummy!!!

I split one fluted tart between my two mini-warmers and it was enough to fill the entire downstairs with the scent!  And it has been going strong for several hours - at least half a day (some of which I wasn't home for).

I love this fragrance!  It is definitely one of my favorites in my first Tiffany Candles order.  I know some people's reviews state that it has a candied fruit smell and although I get where that's coming from I don't get much of that.  I get this creamy scent layered with a bunch of different citrus fruits.  It smells like dessert!  I love it.

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend.  Now it's back to the grind.  Until later, Ciao!

Spotlight on Spumoni! :)

Today was crazy.  It is my first day off (not counting the Easter holiday) since January.

I spent it spring cleaning.  It's funny - when we are younger we don't want to "waste" our time doing something so boring but as you get older you realize that life is all about the necessary and not what you WANT to do.  Sigh.

I reorganized my dining room, my wax and candle stashes, we cleaned the porch furniture and the basement.  We dusted and moved furniture.  Oh and we bathed the kitties.  Which wasn't exactly spring cleaning but more like we needed to do it cleaning because they are really, really mangy.  ;)

But anyway somewhere in all of that I popped my Kissing Booth sample in the the warmer!

I just thought since it was a new scent that I would spotlight it really quickly!  It's very pretty actually with this green, iridescent glitter throughout.

As you can imagine it would probably melt more thoroughly in a hot plate but since I have my trusty Party Lite bulb warmer that's what I used.  :)

I loved this scent.  Funny that I wouldn't normally have gotten it.  Now that I've tried it, I do think it might be purchase worthy.

I looked up some Spumoni history (yes, I'm a nerd like that) and traditionally it was an ice-cream treat made of pistachio, cherry and vanilla/chocolate layers with fruit throughout.  Neapolitan ice-cream is the American version which has layers of vanilla, strawberry and chocolate flavored ice-creams.

This smells like a creamy, creamy blend of pistachio and strawberry.  It is delicious and is heavy on the pistachio notes.  I do not get any chocolate but maybe it isn't supposed to be there?  I am not sure how Kelsey blended this to be so it might be that there is not supposed to be anything but vanilla.  Anyway, if you like creamy food scents or pistachio this is a go buy now scent.  Even if you like strawberry scents (although this doesn't smell like "real" strawberry to me) it is worth a try.  Sometimes you get just the pistachio and strawberry scents and sometimes you get hints of something else - nuts?  Maybe that chocolate I think should be there, I don't know.  LOL.

The throw is out of this world!  Even in a bulb warmer my little tart is going strong for six hours now and at first I could smell it everywhere, downstairs and upstairs in the bedroom.  I have a two-story Cape Cod with three bedrooms and a full basement with four rooms on the main floor.  It isn't huge and it is "cottage-like" but there have only been a few tarts that made the whole house smell amazing!  This is for sure one of them.

I love this.  So glad I got to try it! :)

Now it's time to go out to dinner.  Until next time, Ciao!

Thursday's Melts!

Hi!

Today's been kind of hectic with housework, lol.  Between work and...well, work, I don't have much time.

But anyway, onto the wax!

There's Tiffany's Strawberry Passion in my warmer this morning.

As you can probably see, the wax hasn't melted completely and I don't expect it to because this isn't a hot plate.  That one is on the way!  I should have it within a week and I'm very excited about that.  But anyway, this strawberry shortcake isn't my favorite.  I like it but I don't LOVE it.  I don't get any cake from it so it smells sort of like a strawberry candy to me.  But my sister adores it; she says it's her second favorite scent in the world so I let her have my wax because I'm nice like that.

If you like really sweet strawberry scents this one will be for you!  I just want something with more cake.

I am cleaning my bathrooms today and to mix with the strawberry in the spare room I am melting Bite Me from Candles by Victoria in the living room.  I thought it would blend well with the strawberry.  This is a nice blend of cherries and oranges (predominantly) with some other berries and some vanilla in the background.  Initially when I melt this I get a strange "burned" scent from it but that goes away almost within a few moments.  It is a good, strong berry scent - not too sweet and just tart enough.  The throw is out of this world which is not so for some of her other blends.  This one dominates but the strawberry from Tiffany's tart is a nice companion.

I can smell the thing all through my house.  :)

So that's it!  Oh, I'm so excited.  I have two orders coming and it is almost time to start melting my Kissing Booth wax!  I'm sure I'll let you know about that.  Also, I now have an active Youtube Channel.

Check it out at:

http://www.youtube.com/user/MericP86

I did my first Tiffany's review today and more is to come!  I'm so happy about that.

Until the next time, Ciao!

Today's Melts!!

I am so excited.  I think I finally made my tarts work with the odd, semi-antiquated warmer I have in my room.  Which is really great considering I LOVE WAX.

Anyway, I'm typing in my room and though I would share what I'm melting.  I figure if someone is considering purchasing something they might find that I've gone through it and rambled on and on about it and can decide if they want to try or not.

Without any further ado (who am I kidding - I can't stop rambling) here's what's in my warmer!

It's Tiffany Candles Pina Colada!!

Gary and Tiffany had mentioned on their Facebook group that their fluted wax tart works best in a hot plate.  This is true; my hot plate is broken and I am in the process of getting another one but I am going to hold off just a bit because I found that my warmer works just fine if I halve the product.  I don't like using the tarts this way but I am going to until I can find a good warmer.  I am going to keep this one though because I plan on ordering some scoopables which work well in these warmers, I am told.

The one I have downstairs is a better one and it melts one tart completely (which gives a fantastic throw).  But for my room, which is a bit smaller than my living room this warmer works just fine.

Okay, so back to the Pina Colada.

I loved this scent when I got it - the cold sniff however is nothing like the scent upon warming.  This isn't a true pina colada scent to me.  It is really sweet and creamy, and the pineapple smells almost candied.

My favorite scent across the board is anything with coconut so I knew I would love this but I wasn't expecting the pineapple to be so strong (I guess I was hoping it would be more heavy on the coconut note).  But anyway, overall it is uber sweet with a touch of coconut.  It is delicious one second and more perfumey the next.  If that makes sense (or scents, haha - yes, you can roll your eyes.  ;) ).

It is definitely a repurchase for me!

Downstairs I have Green Grass from B&BW (I think this is Slatkin and not White Barn).  It is a scent not available any longer as far as I know.  I am not a huge fan of "green" scents in general but there was something I loved about this on cold sniff in the store.  It is different when warm though!  It has a bit of the grassy scent to it and an underlying note of something almost citrus-like.  But what I love most is the touch of lily-of-the-valley.  I hate floral scents except for jasmine, lilac and lily-of-the-valley and I don't know too many other vendors who carry the lily scent.  I am going to miss this when it is done and I guess I'll be shopping for it at those semi-annual sales!

If anyone has suggestions as far as any lily-of-the-valley scents drop me a comment.  :)  Until the next time, ciao!
