The Kissing Booth - First Impressions

Someone once said that if you start playing around with wax it'll be like an addiction.  I gave them the dreaded side-eye but now have to admit that - yeah - they were right.  I mean, I always melted candles and loads of them but it wasn't until recently that I entered the world of wick less, deliciously scented nirvana.

I did a review about Tiffany's and now I have returned and this time with a vendor that I am so excited about!

Her name is Kelsey and she runs The Kissing Booth which is a website that sells just wax and wax so cute you won't want to melt it!  Her website is as follows:

www.Kissingboothshop.com

I received this order three weeks after I placed it which, considering the amount of time I imagine it takes her to pour her stuff, is very reasonable.  She is also very nice and understanding of my mistake with PayPal (a system I normally don't use since I'm a VISA only type of gal).  From the research I have done thus far it seems that I am going to have to let these cure several weeks before using them (although I didn't realize that and melted a square earlier but I'll get to that in a bit).  Anyway I will update with my thoughts after I start trying everything but for now I'm just going to ramble on about this vendor because I'm so excited.  :)

Her clam shells are reasonable.  They run about 3.25 pack which is less than Scentsy but more than the store brands.  I would say over all so far I think it's a good deal.  They smell amazing they look out of this world pretty and since she makes them I would imagine it would cost a bit on her end.

She sells them individually but you can get bundles - which is what I did to start.  I got her ten pack bundle and what follows are my initial impressions and photos.  Though I've found that most vendors make an effort in how their product looks Kelsey has really gone above and beyond on her presentation - pictures are more than necessary in some cases.

So anyway, I'm gonna start...whee!!!!

My initial order!

Like I already mentioned, customer service was great and the product arrived several weeks after I ordered it.  Kelsey even included a sample which was great.  I got the ten pack bundle and I didn't know if I was going to love all the scents or not but I went with what I knew I might like - and really apart from one scent everything else was spot on and I am excited to try them all!

Sweet Dreams - This is her version of Pink Peppermint.  I ordered this to try it because I forgot to add it to my Tiffany order a couple of months ago and I had wanted to try it because I love mint scents and am realizing that I might love Pink Sugar.  Anyway, this is a hot pink color with shaved glitter on top - very cute looking.  And it smells amazing!  I cannot wait to try this scent from every vendor I try and compare it!

Stefon

Stefon is just one example of how pretty Kelsey's wax really is.  The scent has a long description but upon sniffing it I get an initial fruit scent like cherries or oranges or something like that - maybe even strawberries.  There is a musky undertone to it as well.  It actually smells like fruit slices, vanilla, musk and cologne.  It reminds me of a day in the city, eating a fruit popsicle while standing next to a man you don't know but wish you did because he smells so good.  Seriously.

After Church: The Grownups is so delicious!  This is a cinnamon crumb cake scent.  It actually looks like a mini cake: the squares are brown and the top layer is white with what looks like cinnamon on top.  Well, it smells like real cinnamon but I don't know if it actually is.  The most prominent notes in this are cake, cinnamon and a hint of coffee.  On cold sniff it actually smells like you're sitting next to a cup of coffee and your favorite along side coffee treat.  I am looking forward to melting this to see if there are any other notes to this.

Twenty-Four is her birthday cake scent.  (Incidentally I am so tickled by the names she gives her scents!  Each one is unique and I love it!)  It has yellow squares and a pink "frosted" topping with an adorable cupcake wax decal.  So cute.  It really does smell like a good, solid cake and frosting scent.  Delicious!

Christopher Street is Kelsey's Fruit Loops scent.  I love this scent from Tiffany's as well so I knew it would be a no-brainer for me.  I am not sure if this is supposed to have any other notes to it but I will find out when I melt it.  The best part about this?  The photos - she took a good bit of time pouring each of those colored squares and the glitter is so pretty!

After Church: The Little Ones is the second offering in her 'after church' scents.  I actually think I like Grownups better even though I didn't think I would have.  Like the other after church scent it is sprinkled with colored jimmies and I am half tempted to try one to see if it s real!  The wax is brown with a pink topping and the sprinkles - very cute!  It smells delicious - like a cream fruit punch with a bit of cookie.  :)

Jolly Pirates is the one scent I mentioned before that  I am not sure about.  I loved the description!  It is pina colada and grenadine and I love both when I am drinking!  I thought this was a sure bet but upon cold sniff I get nothing but the grenadine and I really, really wanted that coconut scent!  I am hoping that when I melt it I change my mind.  It'll be the first I go for after the wax is done curing.

Huckleberry Milkshake smells mostly like a fruit-based cream scent - I actually get a lot of cream from this on cold sniff. This scent is unique to the Kissing Booth.  It is delicious - like I already mentioned it smells like a rich vanilla with hints of fruit.  I don't know what a huckleberry smells like but I'm going to trust Kelsey on that one.

Tough Cookie - my favorite cookie scent yet!

Tough Cookie is a scent I wasn't sure about ordering as I have issues with cookie scents.  Most of the time I don't like my house to smell like baked goods but I do like to try different things.  This is a sugar cookie scent but not JUST that!  It smells like sugary, buttery goodness with LEMON!  I haven't smelled anything like it before - it is so far my favorite cookie scent yet!  And it looks so pretty - I LOVE the gold glitter!  I think I am going to love this and cannot wait to melt it to see.

Candy Floss smells just like cotton candy except it has a touch of fruity to it!  I am excited about this and ordered it because I had seen and heard good things about it (although I like sweet, foodie scents I am not sure about something that is sweet overload).  Having sniffed it I am super excited about trying it!  And of course, I love how pretty it looks.  Although they are all so pretty!

Okay, I am totally done now.  I have another two weeks before I can try these so I am going to hold off for a bit longer.  Can't wait though and I am going to do a follow-up soon!

Tiffany's Candles - First Impressions

I'm a wax melter.  Not that it was ever important to mention that before since this is mostly a food blog but anyway - not often is there a vendor that I care to share with those who follow me (or those who I link to the blog) but I did want to take time out of my schedule to post with you about Tiffany Garcia and her amazing business!  If you have a love affair with wax you should buy from her!

Before I begin my rambling the website is:  www.tiffanycandles.com

You'll be checking it out soon anyway.  ;)

She sells melt able wax tarts, scoop able wax, candles of all sizes and scent shots...and most recently they launched a line of soaps.  (I think the soaps really are new - they posted them on her website while I was working on this post).

Anyway, she does an amazing job!  I can't even say enough good things about this vendor!

Firstly, she's reasonable.  Tiffany charges 2.25 for her fluted tarts - which is only a quarter more than what you would pay for a much lower quality product at WalMart/Target...wherever you shop at the store.  I have managed to get six uses out of her tarts in the bathroom and three in the main rooms.  Though you can buy clam shells at the store and supposedly you get more uses out of them I haven't found that to be true in my case.  A clam shell lasts me about as long as a pack of Tiffany's tarts.

Secondly you get what you pay for when you buy those department store brand waxes - I have found that they tend to be weakly scented or have no throw.  For a price that's comparable you get throw that fills rooms of your house.  Not just one room but rooms.  I have melted several tarts now and each scent will fill my living room, kitchen, dining room and half the staircase to the upper levels.  In fact, some of her scents will be faint in the upper rooms as well!

Which brings me to her scents!!  I do wish her oils were all so strong my whole house could smell like them for eternity but that's not going to happen.  Anyway...I can say that I loved my entire order.  To those who might be reading this and aren't sure what to choose (as she has SO MUCH to choose from) I'm going to offer a quick run-down of what I ordered and what I thought.

Birthday Bash, ComeOnIWannaLeiA, Pink Frosted Cupcake and High Maintenance

Serendipity - This was the first one I melted because my now former main man picked it -(don't you love it when your whole life changes while you're putting together an informative blog post?  Uhh..yeah.)

It was a sweet, slightly fruity scent - very lovely.  Not even so much lovely as YUMMY.  It was a perfect combination of sweet with a touch of fruit - kind of almost a strawberry scent.  I loved it and it lasted about 8 hours (a full tart in a 24 watt hot plate).

Pina Colada - This wasn't just a coconut scent and I wouldn't call it a foodie scent either.  (Just in case people were to order this thinking it smells like the drink).  I mean, yes, it does in some ways but there's a hint of cologne or something beneath the coconut.  I liked it - I melted it in the bathroom and it lasted about three days on a night-light warmer. (I melted half a tart).

Milk and Oats - This was not a foodie scent.  I liked it but it's not for people who want more of the milk and oatmeal food scents.  This sort of reminded me of the way lotion smells - good but definitely cologne-y as well.  This lasted about a day and I melted it in the bathroom. (I melted half a tart).

Pistachio Pudding Cake - I LOVE this one!  This smelled like creamy pistachios.  I got a hint of sugar and some dough-ey elements as well.  This is perfect for the kitchen (I don't know if I would melt this in my main room).  I melted it in the kitchen in a night-light warmer and used half a tart.  The throw for me wasn't so great - it didn't get past the kitchen like some of the others but it was nice.  It lasted maybe a day or so.

Pink Cupcake - I wasn't sure of this one on cold sniff.  It was sweet with something almost cheesy underneath.  Not bad but not great.  When it first melts it is really strong and to me the cupcake overpowers the pink sugar.  It smells like something is baking!  The longer it melted the more I loved it.  Overall, I do like this one a lot.  I melted this in my main room and it filled the lower level.  It lasted about two days.

Creamy Fruit Slices - Why does this scent not get as much love as the others??!!  I am SO GLAD I got this one!  It smells delicious - like oranges, peaches, apples, berries, citrus - all mixed with something oh so delicious.  It reminds me of this fruity dessert my friend Heather makes - she smothers seasonal fruit with her homemade cream filling - whipping cream, vanilla and sugar.  I melted one tart in the main room and the whole house was filled with the scent!  The throw on this one is amazing - I am definitely repurchasing this.

Fruity Loops - The description for this one is that it smells like the cereal.  This is so true!  It is tangy and fruit-like on cold sniff but you actually do get the cereal note once it warms up.  It is delicious!  I melted this in both rooms (one tart split into two).  It lasted two days.

Pink Loops - I adore this scent; it was one of my favorites in the whole bunch!  Though not initially impressed by the pink sugar scents of some vendors, I am really thinking about buying a scoop able of this as a blender - it gives the Loops scent a sweet twist which I love!  This lasted a couple of days in my large warmer.

High Maintenance - I gave one tart to my sister to melt in her bedroom; it is a lovely, feminine floral scent which I thought she would like.  Though not my favorite in the bunch I did like it and it lasted about three days (though she didn't melt it constantly).  It is not a strong floral nor is it too "fake".

Honey Bunny - I can't really describe this one.  It smells sort of foodie and sort of perfume-like.  Kinda like the Oats and Milk scent but with an added sugary touch.  I melted this in the bathroom and kitchen and it only lasted a day or so.  It had a medium throw - much less than some of the others.

Strawberry Shortcake - This scent was the only one that I was a bit down about.  Not that I didn't like it - because I liked my whole order but I have to say that it is my least favorite.  I like Tiffany's strawberry scent over all and I will most likely try some of the others but I will not repurchase this simply because I did not get any cake notes whatsoever.  This lasted two days with one tart in the main room.  It had a medium throw.

Creamy Vanilla - This would make another great blender.  In fact, I blended it with Pink Loops at one point (though I won't go into the blends at the moment).  Alone this is a sweet, smooth vanilla fragrance.  Not overly strong but just enough that it would make an excellent bedroom and/or bathroom scent.  It lasted quite a long time as well - in the bathroom I could smell it for almost four days.

Lavender Vanilla - I normally don't like lavender scents.  They remind me of old ladies (no offense mean to those who aren't!)  Anyway, this wasn't bad - I do prefer stand alone vanilla.  The lavender made this a bit perfumey for me but as a bathroom melter it was nice.

Blue Sugar -This is another one that I was not super fond of.  It is this pretty blue color with sparkles so it is adorable to look at but it has a very off scent to me - almost smokey like and so I haven't been eager to use all of it.  It isn't bad but I would not call this a favorite and I most likely will not repurchase.

Sweet Pea (type) - I melted this in my sisters room (as I am not a huge fan of super floral) and it smelled lovely.  Its still going strong after two days.

Monkey Kisses - This one was a sweet banana scent on cold sniff and had a touch of tropical to it.  If you like banana scents this is a unique one although I suppose its meant to be different because she has a true banana scent in her listing.  But anyway I did like this.  It lasted a couple of days on a light to medium throw.  I melted it in the bathroom and kitchen.

Birthday Bash - If I ever order a candle (and I will after I melt through the arsenal I have now) this will be one of the first ones I get.  Hands down I love this more than any scent I have tried - ever.  They say this is a blend of cake, Fruity Loops and Fluffy Marshmallow.  It is making me rethink what I believed was my hatred for marshmallow scents because they are too sweet.  I can't say enough amazing things about this scent!  If you like food scents at all go to the website and click one of these candles or tarts into your cart - for reals.  It lasted two days and had a good throw.

ComeonIWannaLeia - Apart from the adorable name this scent is an awesome tropical, summery touch to your day.  I love it!  I am not usually one for tropical scents but I do like this one - it is fruity enough to be just right for me.  Not perfumey at all but wasn't as strong for me as some of the others.
Rain Fresh - I suppose I am one of those who buys into a scent description and I loved the way this sounded but do not love it as much as I thought I would.  I probably will not repurchase but it is a good, generic bathroom scent if you like that sort of thing.  I don't find it unique but it does have a fresh, perfume scent.

Overall my first impressions were extremely positive!  I loved the prices, I loved the scents and how cute the product looked (almost too cute to burn).  Tiffany and Gary made the whole process so simple and although I had no problems with my order I saw and overwhelming helpfulness in their Facebook page to those who were having issues.  Clearly this vendor is all about the customer's satisfaction which is paramount.

If this isn't one of your go-to vendors for all your wax needs try them out!  I can't wait to try their candles and scoop able wax - and experiment with more of their offerings!
